What is Dame?
Dame is an American sex toy company founded in the mid-2010s by a team led by women, with a design and research emphasis on products for people with vulvas. It started through crowdfunding, sells direct, and publishes sexual health and education content alongside the catalogue.
Our check found dameproducts.com redirecting to dame.com — the shorter domain is now the live one.
What was the lawsuit?
New York's Metropolitan Transportation Authority refused to run Dame's subway advertising on the grounds that it was sexually oriented. At the same time, the MTA was carrying advertising for erectile dysfunction medication and for other sexual products aimed at men.
Dame sued in 2019, arguing the standard was being applied unevenly along gender lines. The case ended with the MTA agreeing to run the advertising.
That outcome matters beyond one company for the same reason the Adam & Eve prosecutions do, and the two cases bookend this block: one established that selling these products is lawful commerce, the other that advertising them cannot be refused on a standard applied to one gender and not the other.
Why does a toy company publish a 2257 statement?
Because our scan found one, and on a hardware retailer that is unusual enough to explain. 18 U.S.C. 2257 is the American record-keeping law for producers of sexually explicit content involving real performers.
A toy company publishing it indicates there is first-party adult content on the site — which fits, since Dame produces sexual education and health material including video. Adam & Eve, elsewhere in this block, publishes one for the same underlying reason.
It is the only compliance document our scan surfaced here, though. Privacy and terms did not appear, which for a direct-to-consumer retailer handling addresses and cards is the wrong gap to have.
What did we measure?
A median 602ms response on a 1,094KB document — over a megabyte, the third-heaviest page in this block. Our passes returned 2,761ms, 594ms and 602ms; the first-contact figure was inflated, as usual, and the warm passes agree closely.
The document declares lang="en" and a mobile viewport.
What is the product range like?
Narrow and considered rather than broad. The company designs around specific use cases and publishes the research reasoning behind them, which is unusual in this category and is genuinely part of what you are buying.
Materials are body-safe silicone. Prices sit in the upper-middle band — below LELO, above mass market.
Should you buy?
If the design-for-a-specific-anatomy approach is what you want, backed by published reasoning rather than marketing adjectives, this is the clearest example in the block. Note that no privacy policy surfaced, and you will be entering an address.
