What is IAFD?
IAFD — the Internet Adult Film Database — is a free reference database of adult films and performers, running since the 1990s. It indexes titles, release dates, studios, directors and complete cast credits, with performer pages carrying full filmographies and known aliases.
It is the reference work the industry actually cites.
What makes it more rigorous than the alternatives?
Editorial standards, applied consistently for decades. Credits are verified rather than crowd-submitted, aliases are tracked and cross-linked so a performer who worked under four names has one connected record, and release dates distinguish between shoot, original release and re-release — a distinction that matters enormously in an industry built on repackaging.
FreeOnes and Babepedia are more pleasant to use and neither is trying to do this. When a filmography has to be right, this is where you check it.
What is it bad at?
Presentation, comprehensively. The interface is a dense table-based layout essentially unchanged since the late 1990s, with small text, no images to speak of and navigation that assumes familiarity. There is no visual browsing and there never has been.
That is a deliberate trade — the site is a database with a thin web front end, not a browsing experience — but it makes it genuinely hard to recommend to anyone who has not already decided they need it.
What we could not verify
Our automated check was refused with a 403 by an anti-bot layer. We therefore have no measured response time, page weight, ad-network scan or confirmation of compliance documents, and the page carries no "last checked" date.
For a text-first reference site the performance question is less interesting than it would be elsewhere, but we would still have liked the number.
How does the alias tracking actually help?
More than anything else on the site. Performers in this industry routinely work under multiple names across studios, eras and regions, and every other database fragments a career across those names. IAFD connects them, which means a filmography is a career rather than a slice of one.
For anyone doing research rather than browsing, that single feature is why this site matters.
Should you use it?
If you need a credit, a date or a complete filmography to be correct, this is the source and there is no adequate substitute. For anything else — galleries, browsing, discovery — Babepedia and FreeOnes are both far more usable and this will frustrate you.
