What is PornGeek?
PornGeek is an adult site directory: categorised listings of porn sites with a written review for each, in the model ThePornDude established and that this site also follows. It has been running for several years and covers a broad spread of categories.
We are one of these. Read accordingly.
What is the conflict, precisely?
We are a directory reviewing a directory that competes with us for the same searches and the same clicks. Every incentive here points towards understating what it does well.
We cannot remove that incentive, so instead: the specific claims below are checkable. Where we say something is a weakness, you can go and see whether it is. That is the only version of this review that is worth anything.
What does it do well?
Coverage and voice. The category spread is broad, the reviews are written rather than assembled from templates, and the writing has a consistent point of view — which sounds minor and is what separates a directory from a link list.
It also updates. Dead sites get removed rather than accumulating, which is a maintenance burden most directories quietly abandon after a year or two.
Where is it weak?
Two things, and they are the same two we identify in ThePornDude's entry because they are structural to the format.
There is no structured scoring — no per-site rating you can sort or compare, and no visible criteria explaining why one site ranks above another. The ordering is editorial and unexplained.
And there is very little verifiable data. Reviews describe sites qualitatively without measurements, compliance checks or test dates, which means a reader has no way to distinguish a site the reviewer used from one they skimmed.
Those are precisely the gaps this directory was built to fill, which is exactly why you should discount our saying so.
What did we measure?
A 1,250ms response on a 978KB document — nearly a megabyte of HTML, which for a text-and-links directory is very heavy. The request redirected from the www host to the bare domain.
The document declares lang="en" and a mobile viewport. Our scan detected no advertising network in the page source and found none of the four compliance documents; recorded as unconfirmed.
How does it make money?
Affiliate links on outbound clicks, which is the standard model for this category — including for this directory. Any directory's ordering should be read with that in mind, ours included.
Should you use it?
If you want a second directory's opinion, it is a real one with a genuine voice and maintained listings. We think structured scoring and measured data make for a better directory, but we would.
